About Data

Under construction. In the sense that I'm currently investigating the design and implementation of the content that would live in this section.

Data is really at the core of what I'd like to do with this website. In particular the construction of data about my online activity and the visualization of that data.

As I finalize the details of fetching the data about my online activities, I'm starting to think about how to design and build a method for visualizing it. If I could find a way to outsource this to another site, I'd try that. But so far I haven't found anything that suits me. Daytum is pretty nice but limited in terms of graph complexity and API.

Thus far my main requirements are that I can graph dynamic data and that at least some graph types will allow users to interact with them. Ideally graph type could also change on the fly, for instance, if a user wanted to see the data as a pie chart rather than bar chart.

I know also that I want to be able to produce a kind of "yearbook" or time-based compilation of the data. Here I'm thinking about references like Nicholas Feltron's personal Annual Report or Dopplr's Personal Annual Report for travelers.

That's pretty much how far I've gotten in thinking about the design of such a thing. More soon.
